Having “Lava” Fun in Pre-School!

Our Pre-School class just enjoyed an action-packed week learning all about volcanoes.  They talked about the shape of a volcano, the characteristics of lava, what happens when a volcano erupts, and where volcanoes are located.  To top it all off, they designed and created their very own volcano using clay.

Here they are hard at work before the big eruption!

To create your own volcano at home, follow these simple tips from the Pre-School teachers:

-Find a small bottle to use as the middle of the volcano (we used an Actimel bottle)

-Create the sides and base of the volcano by molding clay or play dough around the bottle in the shape of a cone

-Fill the bottle about half way up with baking soda

-Add a drop of red food coloring

-Start slowly adding vinegar to the bottle…and prepare for an eruption!

Good luck!

Bye for now,

Brittany
